O economista Roberto Campos Neto será o novo presidente do BC. Ele foi anunciado para o cargo no Banco Central pela assessoria de Paulo Guedes, ministro da Fazenda de Jair Bolsonaro.

Além da escolha de Campos Neto como presidente do BC, foi confirmada a permanência de Mansueto Almeida no seu cargo de Secretário Nacional do Tesouro, função que o ocupa desde abril deste ano.

Ilan Goldfajn, homem que preside o Banco Central atualmente, divulgou a seguinte nota sobre seu sucessor: “profissional experiente e reconhecido, com ampla visão sobre o sistema financeiro e a economia nacional e internacional”.

Goldfajn ainda comentou sobre suas expectativas: “adotará todas as providências para garantir a melhor transição no comando da autoridade monetária”, além de informar que sua saída se dá por motivos pessoais.

Campos Neto atualmente trabalhava como diretor e responsável pela tesouraria do banco Santander.

O presidente do Santander, Sérgio Rial, também comentou sobre a escolha: “é um profissional com sólida formação e profundo conhecimento da área econômica”.

Rial ainda desejou sorte ao Roberto, “muito êxito no desempenho de sua nova função, tão importante para o desenvolvimento do país”.

Agora o nome de Campos Neto será indicado ao Senado Federal, assim que aprovado ele ocupará o cargo de presidente do BC.
