A Nokia informou nessa segunda-feira (22) através de um comunicado, que planeja cortar um terço da força de trabalho da Alcatel-Lucent International, o que representa cerca de 1.233 funcionários. Vale destacar que a companhia de equipamentos para telecomunicações adquiriu a empresa sa há cerca de 5 anos, sob condição de manter empregos na França por dois anos.

No comunicado, a Nokia destacou que os cortes são resultados de pressões nos custos da companhia. Além disso, a multinacional finlandesa havia comunicado ao mercado em abril desse ano sua pretensão de reduzir seus custos até o fim de 2020, em 500 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 2,5 bilhões).

Contudo, quando adquiriu a Alcatel–Lucent International, também indicou que ampliaria as equipes de pesquisa e desenvolvimento na França para serem um recurso em relação as redes 5G. Apesar disso, essas equipes serão impactadas pelo corte anunciado nessa segunda-feira.

De acordo com um porta-voz da empresa, a companhia ficou livre dessa obrigação em junho desse ano.

Nokia pega empréstimo de US$ 561 mi para desenvolver tecnologia 5G

A multinacional de tecnologia Nokia pegou um empréstimo de US$ 561 milhões (aproximadamente, R$ 2,597 bilhões). Conforme seu relatório anual, montante ajudará a empresa a desenvolver sua tecnologia 5G.

O empréstimo  foi firmado com o Banco Europeu de Investimento (EIB). O negócio foi fechado em agosto de 2018 e tem um prazo médio de cinco anos. O valor foi disponibilizado em fevereiro, no dia 24.

A empresa finlandesa também interrompeu o pagamento de dividendos no final do ano ado. Segundo a companhia, será preciso investir mais dinheiro do que o esperado no desenvolvimento recente rede 5G.

“A Nokia usará o empréstimo para acelerar ainda mais sua pesquisa e desenvolvimento da tecnologia 5G, o padrão de telecomunicações móveis da próxima geração”, declarou a companhia quando o acordo foi fechado em agosto de 2018.
