Gerdau (GGBR4): Subsidiária nos EUA compra empresa de reciclagem por US$ 60 milhões

A Gerdau (GGBR4) anunciou nesta quarta (18) que sua controlada na América do Norte, a Gerdau Ameristeel US Inc., celebrou contrato para aquisição de ativos de uma empresa de operação, processamento e reciclagem de sucata ferrosa denominada Dales Recycling Partnership, por aproximadamente US$ 60 milhões.

Em comunicado enviado à Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), a Gerdau destaca que o conjunto de ativos inclui os terrenos, estoques e ativos fixos associados às operações da Dales Recycling nos estados do Tennessee, Kentucky e Missouri, nos Estados Unidos.

“A aquisição tem como objetivo aumentar a captura de sucata ferrosa cativa pela Gerdau por meio de canais próprios, para fornecimento dessa matéria-prima às suas operações, com custo competitivo”, afirma.

Aquisição da Gerdau ainda ará por outras etapas

A empresa ressalta que o fechamento da operação está condicionado à verificação de condições precedentes usuais para este tipo de operação.

“Essa aquisição está alinhada à estratégia de crescimento e competitividade das operações, através dos ativos com maior potencial de geração de valor no longo prazo e ampliação da presença em mercados de maior rentabilidade para seus negócios”, afirma a Gerdau.
