O eBay (EBAY34) anunciou que pretende demitir cerca de 9% dos funcionários em regime de tempo integral.

Conforme comunicado do eBay, a decisão faz parte de esforços para melhorar o desempenho em um momento de aumento da concorrência e queda nos gastos com consumo.

Em comunicado divulgado na noite da terça (23) a empresa de comércio eletrônico norte-americana com sede em San Jose (Califórnia) disse que cortará cerca de 1.000 empregos.

A companhia também pretende rever contratos com outros funcionários.

“Nosso número geral de funcionários e despesas superaram o crescimento de nosso negócio”, disse o CEO da empresa, Jamie Iannone, sobre as demissões do eBay.

“Precisamos organizar melhor nossas equipes para ganhar velocidade – permitindo-nos ser mais ágeis, unificar tarefas semelhantes e…tomar decisões de forma mais rápida”, acrescentou.

No fim de 2022, a companhia tinha cerca de 11.600 funcionários nas operações globais, incluindo 6.800 nos EUA, segundo documento regulatório. Um ano antes, a empresa contava com aproximadamente 10.800 colaboradores.

As ações do eBay sobem cerca de 1% no intradia desta quarta-feira (24) na Nasdaq, mas apresentam queda de 10,5% em uma janela de 12 meses. Os BDRs listados no Brasil sobem 1,6% hoje e caem 12,3% em 12 meses.
