Dono da Amazon lançará fundo filantrópico

O fundador da Amazon, Jeff Bazos, anunciou pelo Twitter que irá lançar um fundo de filantropia, chamado Bezos Day One Fund, com um investimento inicial de US$ 2 bilhões com o foco em duas grandes áreas: ajudar famílias carentes e a criação de escolas em bairros de baixa renda.

Bezos, que é considerado o homem mais rico do mundo, aderiu a ideia de criar um fundo após pedir opiniões nas redes sociais de como poderia utilizar a sua fortuna para ajudar outras pessoas. A fortuna do dono da Amazon é estimada em U$ 163 bilhões.

O Day One Families Fund vai financiar organizações, ONGs e grupos cívicos que fornecem abrigo e alimentação para jovens famílias. Uma outra vertente do fundo, chamado de Day One Acamies Fund, irá lançar e operar redes de escolas gratuitas em comunidades carentes. Outra organização será criada para a istração destas escolas

A Amazon foi a segunda empresa a atingir a marca de US$ 1 trilhão de valor de mercado. A primeira tinha sido a Apple.
